Under the Weather

Coming to you live with a hot water bottle shoved down my top, it has been quite the week of sickness ’round these parts. Only me, of course, everyone else seems mighty jolly and suffering merely from a runny  nose. I, on the other hand, have been knocked for a six like only the best sleep-deprived, run-down mum can.

It’s been a week of my cold + flu tonic, endless shots of olive leaf extract, a couple expired cold and flu tablets (whoops), Ferr Phos + First Aid tissue salts, B vitamins, C vitamins, hot water bottles, entire boxes of tissues in my bag when I’m forced to leave the house, and 90 minutes under the hands, rocks and needles of the glorious Keri Krieger (remember her from that time I went to Gwinganna?). It’s not been pretty. Well, Keri was pretty, but you know what I mean.

I’m terrified to peek into my email inbox, my laundry has been on the line for three days, and I can barely speak above a whisper. It’s been dire, I tell you. DIRE.

But lest you think I had fallen off the face of the earth (or died from SPIDERGATE), I thought I’d pop in and let you know that I was still around. Barely. I’m eating all the comfort food y’all have recommended, and I’m on the hunt for oregano oil. I also never want to get out of bed again.

Read your post last night but couldn’t comment on my phone for some reason. You poor thing. Being that sick and looking after kids and managing on the sleep you do is hard work. Rest up as much as you need/can. x

Poor you!! Tim swears by a tablespoon of vegimite in a mug of hot water. Personally I never have it but whenever he’s under the weather that’s what he has….

Hope you’re on the mend soon xxx

I think Tim has excellent judgement (take you, for example!) but NO.

Poor chicken. Being sick is awful. Being a sick mum is beyond. Things have a tendency to fall in a heap and from there, I salvage one positive – I do a fuckload around here when I’m well. It helps because most of the time I am telling myself I am very, very lazy.

    Feel better, man.

I know, I fight the lazy every day! but knowing we do a whole bunch means it’s ok when we take a little time out. because wow, I thought I was going to die.

Oh darling I’ve only just seen this. Blah ! That’s totally horrible. Sending lots of immune boosting iron/zinc/ germ forcefield love your way. Soup soup and more soup. Xx

I thought I was the only one! I know how you feel! I got sent home from a first aid course on Thursday (on day 4 of illness) because I was disrupting the class with all my coughing and nose blowing (box of tissues was placed very delicately on the desk in front of me at the time) It started as a sore throat and runny nose – that I can handle. But the dog like bark and razor blade scratching in my chest was too much – I ended up getting antibiotics on day 5 – yesterday. Feeling better-ish – but talking is hard and husband now has a sore throat! Get well love – feeling your pain – quite literally!

Oh you poor thing, that sounds pretty damn hard core! I hope by now you’ve come good. How crazy that they sent you home – but nose-blowing is pretty loud haha x

I go to a tea made of hot water, lemon, fresh ginger and honey. If this doesn’t kick your cold/flu get a juice apple and ginger ( like ask for at least a 10cm chunk to be juiced) – it’s a lot of ginger and it may burn a little on the way down… You’ll need to have some water on hand… But the next day you’ll feel much better.

    • http://www.theveggiemama.com Veggie Mama

haha how good is ginger! I drank so much of it. My cold + flu tea is much the same as yours, although I give it an extra kick with apple cider vinegar, turmeric and cayenne. sounds like a curry, works like a charm.
