31 Days of Confessions

September 29, 2013 by Stacey 20 Comments

31-days-confessionsThis month, I’m going to do something a little different. I read Fat Mum Slim’s post about 50 blog post ideas and thought that would make a great series, but that 50 was probably too many to do in a row.

Then I came across The Nester’s 31 Days in October challenge, where you write about the same thing for the whole month. And an idea was born: the 31 most searching posts in Fat Mum Slim’s list would be the prompts I would use for 31 days. Read from the start and come back every day, dip in and out, whatever takes your fancy – but get ready to get to know me in the next few weeks. Stuff like:

1. That thing that happened in high school that pretty much changed my life forever.

2. The day I left home.

3. That lie I told that I got away with (or didn’t!).

4. The hardest thing I’ve ever been through.

5. 9 things I just can’t handle.

6. My most excruciatingly embarrassing moment.

7. The story of my first kiss (not skipping all the awkward details!)

8. The day I started blogging – what was I thinking?

9. The most difficult decision I have ever made.

10. 7 things I learned from being a kid.

11. The last thing that made me cry.

12. My earliest childhood memory.

13. That thing that really gets my goat.

14. The worst Christmas I’ve ever had.

15. What I am addicted to and why.

16. My obituary.

17. A DIY on something I know nothing about.

18. What I’ve learned about life so far.

19. Brain dump: what’s on my mind right now.

20. Something I lost.

21. My worst habit.

22. Thank you to a thing that I love.

23. What I want to be when I grow up.

24. Something I found.

25. A review on something I’ve used, watched, eaten, or read lately.

26. An update on my most popular post – where are we now?

27. Set a goal and a plan on how to get there.

28. Top 5 blogs I’m loving right now.

29. I ask advice on something that is troubling me.

30. A menu for my last meal ever.

31. I share a secret I’ve never told anyone until now.

Now 31 posts is a lot to commit to, so I’ll try not to sit in a shame spiral if I don’t do them all. I’ve never been very good with numbers anyway! I might also have to suspend the Meatless Monday linkup for a couple of weeks, I’ll see how I go.

Have you ever done a series? Would you like to do one? There’s still time to link up with Myquillin for the 31 Days in October challenge! See you back here on October 1. Party on x

I love this idea. I’m not brave enough to spill some of these things about myself. Maybe after a few more years of blogging!

[…] This is what I am doing. On October 28, 2008, I was sitting in the library at uni, where I was found pretty often. I had just joined Twitter (thanks to the revamped Britney Spears website – I signed up to this newfangled social media thingamybob they recommended, and they generated my first tweet ever, which said “being a Britneyphile”), and I can’t remember what sparked it, but I started a blog. I thought about the name for a while, before settling on “confessions of a nerd”. My first post talked about how much I was an indoors girl, that I always had to take a jumper wherever I went. RIVETING STUFF. […]
