Taking Stock

Joining in with Meet Me at Mike’s.

Making : A poncho from some alpaca yarn I got from Bendigo Woollen Mills on my roadtrip with Kate from Foxs Lane.
Cooking : Apple and Cinnamon tea cake, Raspberry Jam cake, Jammy Pecan and Oat Biscuits from Wholefood for Children, Spinach Alfredo Pizza, cheese quesadillas.
Drinking : Tea. Always tea. Although I did make a salted caramel syrup for coffee and have indulged quite often.
Reading: Everything. I’m almost finished On Writing by Stephen King, have made a little headaway in The Complete Buddhism for Mothers, by Sarah Napthali, I am reading for a second time The Way of The Happy Woman, by Sara Avant Storer (the winter bit), I’ve been trying to read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams before I go to sleep (I’m trying to do that “fiction before bed thing”) and I got stuck into Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon on the plane over the weekend. Oh, and I finished A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf on the first plane.
Wanting: To sleep.
Looking: At new suburbs.
Playing: Very briefly at the park when there’s not gale-force Antarctic winds.
Wasting: Time.
Sewing: I’ve sewed 0 things since I started taking stock last year.
Wishing: For more time.
Enjoying: The stages my kids are at. Hilarious.
Waiting: Spring. It will come. It’s getting lighter earlier in the morning now… gives me hope.
Liking: Beer for breakfast.
Wondering: How much I’m literally capable of, and how much I can give to others to do.
Loving: Hot husband.
Hoping: I’m not screwing my kids up too much.
Marvelling: That Smalls is nearly two.
Needing: A different way of thinking. I can’t change anything if I keep looking at it the same way I always have.
Smelling: A bunch of candles I bought from Golden Skull. They are insane! I love them.
Wearing: Black leggings, Lord of the Fries hoodie, striped socks, cons, and my Uberkate ID cuff.
Following: Alex_and_Ernest on Instagram. It’s my cousin’s new jewellery venture and it makes me wish I was young and tanned and had the required amount of sleep each night.
Noticing: I look at the weather forecast a lot.
Knowing: You can always do better.
Thinking: About family. I’ve caught up with a few long-lost relatives lately and it’s pretty cool.
Feeling: sofuckingtired
Bookmarking: Bread in 5 minutes a day, Sichuan Tofu in “fish” Fragrant Sauce, Homemade Muesli Bars, and a reminder to get Hillary Clinton’s new book.
Opening: Accounts at online stores.
Giggling: This unintentionally funny human. And “fucking magnets, how do they work?”
Listening: Back to Magna Carta Holy Grail, lots of Against Me!, always with the news podcasts, the ’90s station on Spotify, the Hip Hop station on Spotify and Taylor Swift when the mood hits me. Which, let’s face it, is pretty rare.

What have you been up to?

I did some here and here and here too 🙂

I’m tired too. So much so my eyes widened a bit when when I saw “hot husband” and “screwing” and realised they were two different sentences and not on the same line!!

I read “On Writing” last weekend and I loved it. Great advice for the new fiction writer. Have you seen Word Crimes from Weird Al yet? Very funny for the grammar nerds.
Also liked Knowing: You can always do better
    Very True.

Dude! How many flipping books can you read?! Hell I can’t get through one at the moment! Every time I start reading I fall asleep.
And is Smalls keeping you up again? I thought things were better? What is with these non sleeping kids of ours?

She got sick and then went back to getting up all night. If I don’t read, I die.

That’s one impressive list. I like the sound of Stephen King’s On Writing. I read my first Stephen King novel about a year ago and realised how many of his novels have characters who are writers. He’s very good on the creative process of writing. Hope the tofu in fish fragrant sauce converts you to a tofu eating veggie mama.

I started reading his books when I was 8. He’s as much a part of me as I am!
I don’t mind tofu, as long as it doesn’t taste like ass.

Buddhism for Mothers is one of the few parenting books I’ve read, and I loved it! On Writing by Stephen King has been on my reading list forever – are you enjoying it? xx
