When I was looking for cakes to make for Smalls’ second birthday, I kept going back to this Brown Sugar Pound Cake I’d seen in a magazine. I know it’s not a traditional birthday cake, but hey – it’s cake. And it sounded good!
And boy, was it good. IT WAS SO GOOD. It also was huge, which meant we weren’t getting through it in a hurry, and we even had visitors from out of town. I took some to The New Normal podcast interview with Emma and Tess, which went down a treat. That podcast was so fun, by the way – we talked about parenting two under two, sleep deprivation, why I don’t put my kids on my blog (much), fussy eating, and how I got into blogging in the first place (and how I manage it with two small kids). It made me even more excited to launch my own podcast, which I’ve been planning for MONTHS.
Hint – come back tomorrow 😉
This recipe is adapted from My My’s Brown Sugar Pound Cake in the Sept/Oct edition of Midwest Living.
Yes, I subscribe to Midwest Living even though I don’t live in the United States, let alone the midwest. It’s a long story, plus the subscription is insanely cheap! And hey, there’s recipes like this.
What’s your go-to birthday cake recipe? I can’t wait to bring out the Women’s Weekly ones!
