I’m a finalist in the 2017 Bupa Blog Awards and that is all kinds of cool

Homestyle vegetarian recipes and tales from a Melbourne mum | Veggie Mama blog

You can imagine my surprise when I opened an email last week telling me that not only had I been nominated in the 2017 Bupa Blog Awards (thanks, whoever that was!) but I was chosen as a finalist in the Family category, along with In the Lyons Den, Maxabella Loves, The Modern Mumma and Picklebums, WHICH IS A REALLY BIG DEAL.

Blogging competitions sometimes get me a bit off-kilter – I think blogging should be democratic and collaborative rather than competitive – but gosh it’s nice to be commended so publicly for something I love doing so much. I’ve been to plenty of Bupa blogger things over the years, and have always been excited by their inclusivity and care for bloggers and blogging as a whole, so it makes the news even radder. I’m proud to have been included in this year’s efforts.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know the other nominees, and hopefully getting to hang out a lot more “for real life” (as my 4 year old would say) with old friends I only ever see on the internet. I’ve loved working with Bupa on the blog and am looking forward to doing more of that with the funny and kind folk who work there. TBH I’m also looking forward to the awards night because the last one was held at Vue de Monde and that shit is epic. They had Vegemite macarons! and fancy eggs!

So thank you to the judges, the lovely, thoughtful reader/s who nominated me, and the people who read here and keep me coming back. A solid fist-bump to you all, I am truly humbled. I’m also sitting down (literally).

Peace out!

(ps: check out the nominations in the other categories here, and cast your vote for the People’s Choice! I found it so had to choose.)
