It’s no secret I love Masterchef… I don’t watch a lot of television (too many books in the world, not enough time) but last season, I was hooked. I dominated the remote every day at 7.30pm and woe betide anyone who came near.
This year is no different, and just about everything shown in the masterclasses make me immediately hungry. This hommus recipe, and the one for raw vegetable salad actually had me moaning at the television… I needed to eat them immediately, if not sooner. And boy, when I made them, I thought my head was going to explode. They were painfully good.
Without further ado, here is Gary’s recipe for Masterchef hummus.
Masterchef Hummus Recipe
Hummus ingredients:
- 400g can chickpeas
- 1/2 garlic clove, bruised
- 1 tablespoon organic tahini
- pinch mild paprika
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lemon, juiced with 1/2 the zest finely grated
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Method:
Blend, baby! You may have to add a little water. You can use the blender or a food processor, though I find the food processor easier.
The lemon. It’s the lemon that makes this shit so good. I make it alllll the time.
Lemon garlic hummus is the best! I like to throw a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes in too for a little kick! Sooo good!
I'm guilty of never having made it before!
Never made hummus from scratch before although we eat it all the time, my kids love it too! After reading this I so want to try it – thanks for the recipe – going to give it a go!
So worth it… I was wandering around the house saying “oh my GOD!” after I'd made it. Unbelievably good!
Seasoning and more Garlic!
Ha the first time I made this I accidentally put in a whole clove… and it was crazy strong! But agree with the seasoning – for someone who loves his salt, I can’t believe Gary doesn’t have it in his recipe! Strange.
Lovely Recipe you have shared.. thanks for sharing.. Made the similar recipe of “Hummus” try to visit my place when time permits .. Recipes Passion love to have your feedback; just visiting..
Happy blogging have a good day.. dear 🙂
I wasn’t sure whether I needed to drain the chickpeas and I ended up throwing the entire can in and it ended up runny – it was still delicious though. Next time I’ll drain the chickpeas, cut back on the oil, and add back some of the liquid from the can.
