My favourite Snapchatters

June 17, 2016 by Stacey 29 Comments

photo-1459454783596-1f171a3afc9fFor some reason, Snapchat is EVERYWHERE at the moment.

I did a post about it on ProBlogger recently for people with blogs who want to follow other bloggers, because among the blog world it’s the new darling of social media and everyone’s getting on it. Folk who previously dismissed it as not useful are now tryna get down with the millennials, but confusion reigns supreme.

“How do I work this thing?” I get asked. “I’m going to have to get my teenagers to give me a tutorial”.

I can’t remember when I downloaded it but it was years ago and I did have the “what is this bullshit?” mindset for the longest time. I couldn’t see the point, though would snap every now and then – the problem was you had to send it to everyone in your list, you couldn’t just broadcast it in general. I also didn’t follow many people.

When Snapchat introduced “stories” I got much more into it. it’s super fun now, but it really does depend on who you follow and who is there to interact with. So if you’ve just got your snap on, here are my favourite people to follow. They snap gooood, yo!

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 2.35.50 pm

Steen Jones | steen_jones

Steen is an artist that travels around doing cool stuff for cool people. He also has a clothing line, Few and Far Collective, and has been a friend for years. His days are filled with art, work, music, cute animals, parties and cities around the world – its fun and inspiring to watch what he gets up to.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 2.41.43 pm

Lorraine Elliott | notquitenigella

Lorraine is everyone’s favourite food blogger at Not Quite Nigella – she flies everywhere eating everything and cooking things and making me hungry and jealous. It’s impossible not to watch every snap. Quite fond of a filter.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 2.55.33 pm

Alice Zaslavsky | aliceinframes

You might remember Alice from her stint on Masterchef, but these days she’s all over the interwebz with her food puns and edible adventures. She’s ALWAYS eating something cool and always going somewhere awesome. She’s a lot of fun, you’ll like her.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 3.00.45 pm

Amy Remeikis | hugbubble

Amy is a political journalist in Queensland and a friend from way back. She is a brilliant reporter and a goofy nut. Her snaps are a wonderful peek into her life, from press conferences to parties and all her costumes in between.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 3.03.52 pm

Beth MacDonald | babymacbeth

Beth is only new to Snapchat but she’s already rocking it like a pro. Expect cosy fireside chats, fancy drinks, adorable baby and good ole-fashioned country living. She once snapchatted me her ALF impersonation, she’s rad.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 4.28.20 pm

Chelsey Johns | likeavegan

Chelsey is a deadset legend. Her snaps are hilarious – taking in the food she eats, the dishes she invents, her coterie of animals, and her trips around the globe. I envy her epic pin collection and basically her entire menu.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 4.33.44 pm

Kristina Childs | kristinachilds

Kristina is a bullshit good photographer and she snapshots moments from everywhere – her studio, her dancefloor antics, her wedding shoots in exotic places, her record playlists of the day, her outrageous family that I love and that never fail to make me giggle, and bits and pieces that catch her eye. Full thumbs up from me.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 4.39.45 pm

Emma and Carla Papas | themmsisters

These girls are always doing and eating something interesting. They’re full of life and excitement and remind me to do pilates. And eat salad. I’m all about it.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 4.42.50 pm

Nikki Parkinson | stylingyou

Nikki lives a life many people only dream of – doing stuff she loves for a living, wearing beautiful things and going to fancy places. I love a peek inside her day-to-day because it’s always something different. A fashion shoot here, a glittering event there, the school pickup… she covers it all. My favourite was when she lost her glasses in the back of an Uber on a recent night out 😉

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 4.55.37 pm

Carly Jacobs | carly.jacobs

For those of you who don’t know, Carly is my podcast co-host and a rad blogger from Melbourne. She snaps all sorts of stuff like recipes, productivity tips, new blog posts, fun stuff in the city and has been sharing how she’s getting in 5 cups of vegetables and 30 minutes of exercise every day during her Wholesome Habits Challenge.

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 5.06.19 pm

Ree Drummond | thepioneerwoman

One of my most favourite bloggers ever, Ree shows snippets of life on the farm, amazing recipes, bits of her TV show, her impressive collection of Bassett Hounds and general blogging fun. I never miss a snap!

So are you on Snapchat? Who do you think does it well? Feel free to leave your Snap name in the comments, and you can follow me here if that’s your thang!

Well thanks for the heads up on Steen – my wife thinks his gear is “da shit” (her words, not mine) so this titbit has gained me some points! Adding your sweet mug to my list too.
No glitzy parties or school pick-ups here, however if coffee shops and sing-alongs are your thing, I’m “sarahraaen” on the ol snap! xx

Argh, I’m so happy to read this! I got on board snapchat maybe two weeks ago after thinking it was only for my teenagers & not understanding it one bit! I did ask my kids to show me what to do & they were all ” no, just delete it you aren’t using it right.” Bastards! So I don’t snap myself because I’m not really sure what I’m doing still & I only follow maybe 5 people( you, Smags & Beth included) & I find it frustrating that I can’t see who everyone follows so I can find new people to follow BUT I am finding it strangely fun to watch.

yeah sometimes I think us oldies need to just let the kids have their fun – parents have already ruined Facebook! It’s a lot of fun to watch even if you don’t snap, so i think you’re doing it just fine <3

So tell me, do you comment on people’s snaps or like them the way you do Instagram? Are you supposed to get chatty or just watch like a creep? Sooooo confusing!

Some of my faves are in here to. I’ve just started on Snapchat and I love it. I rarely talk about plumbing, more about what’s been going on in my day with the kids. Will check out the ones I don’t know.
