Taking Stock

August 23, 2016 by Stacey 5 Comments

PicMonkey CollageJoining in with Meet Me at Mikes, not stealing brothqqqqqqqq1qqa. Extra letters courtesy of the 3yo banging a Little Live Pet on the keyboard, which I only noticed once I pressed “publish”.

Making : An absolute mess – I tried sewing with fake fur yesterday. I’m still picking it out of my eyelashes. I’m also slogging away at my cowl, which I’m not sure if I’ll keep yet. and a couple of other WIPs which I might share tomorrow.
Cooking : I feel like I’ve hardly been cooking anything lately, but I have to have been or we’d all be dead from starvation. I don’t know, maybe nothing out of the ordinary? Endless banana cakes and pikelets and boring dinner.
Drinking : Tried a home-made hot buttered rum the other night, deeeeeeeefinitely put too much rum in it.
Reading : You know one of these days I’ll finish The Bourne Identity and get my life back. Had no idea when I first started it how fricking LONG it is. And the type… it’s tiny. Many story, lots convolution. Much page.
Wanting : A sunshiny holiday, preferably by a pool.
Looking : At spring springing around everywhere.
Playing : a hundred and fifty million jigsaw puzzles every single day.
Wasting : time. As usual!
Sewing : Biggie’s book week costume: behold, a dog! A very simple dog, but hey, a dog nonetheless.
Wishing : Ummmm still on that holiday fantasy
Enjoying : The warmer weather, burritos, earlier sunrises, my parents moving nearby, my sister visiting regularly, good nights’ sleep, Stranger Things, unexpected mac and cheese croquette deliveries, school mum friends, hot cups of tea, colouring in, the kids being old enough to eat out without Full Carnage For All Involved.
Waiting : For school pickup, though I’ve got a shitload to do before then.
Liking : Plants. My collection grows by the week hour.
Wondering : How early I can go to bed tonight. Again.
Loving : Mr Veggie Mama.
Hoping : Refer above: sunshine holiday
Marvelling : That my vacuum cleaner was fixed in 24 hours, rather than the 4 days they initially quoted.
Needing : To vacuum my floor, I don’t even want to tell you how long it’s been. And the carpet is like, a dark aqua-green type situation (a complete eyesore as it is), so you can see every single tiny atom of crap, everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
Smelling : A candle I have nearby.
Wearing : O2 Wear bamboo leggings, Bohemian Traders Gingham Shirt Dress, One Love singlet, and a Brixton jacket of Lunchbox’s that doesn’t fit him. Slippers.
Following : Very many crafty woodsy woollen folk who live in mountains over the seas.
Noticing : The seasons change and my moods changing with them much more than I usually would.
Knowing : I should have figured out what we’re having for dinner already.
Thinking : Of how much I still need to get done.
Feeling : Slightly hungry, definitely cold, kind of procrastinatey, which I’m trying to fight.
Bookmarking : This amazing kimono-style blossom dress which will be perfect for a wedding I’m going to in November. But I just ordered a bunch of stuff to wear to PBEvent, so I have to cool my heels a bit.
Opening : My mouth to yawn – for someone who had a good night’s sleep I’m flat af today.
Giggling : This, that Danielle shared in the secret Veggie Mama Facebook gang – have you joined?

Listening : A hell of a lot of “Jumper Jovi” aka Jon Bon Jovi aka “Jon Bovi“, courtesy of the 3yo, which thankfully means zero Agadoo.

Eating out with the kids without Full Carnage For All Involved seems like a pipe dream – we’ll get there one day! Glad to you’ve reached that milestone. And I would SO buy that choose your own adventure cookbook!

It’s honestly been the longest shortest time. And yet here we are!

My cooking sitch is much the same as yours but switch banana bread for cookies. My book sitch was like yours thanks to the bookclub pick of The Wind Up Bird Chronicles. By the end I was hate reading just to finish the fucker. Feeling the same except thirsty instead of hungry. The cold needs to piss off.
Also, Smalls has good taste. I LOVE old school Bon Jovi!

The funny thing is I really like the book but I’m just so ready for something else now. But yet again there is ANOTHER crisis and I’m like “did you not worry you’d run out of ideas for other books? because you used them all up in this one!” but hey he’s got a million books and I clearly don’t know what I”m talking about haha

I don’t feel like I’ve cooked anything either but I have made cake (because cake!) Perhaps I’d cook more if I had one of those choose your own adventure cookbooks!
