Taking Stock

The coffee at my friend's new cafe Marble Fox. You should check it out.

The coffee at my friend’s new cafe Marble Fox. You should check it out.

Joining in with Meet Me at Mikes, not stealing broth.

Making : a crochet cashmere cardigan and a beautiful textured afghan from pure wool.
Cooking : Hot cross buns, bread, burger buns, sweet potato and coconut curry, sweet potato and spinach gratin, corn fritters, apple cakes, choc-chip goji berry cookies, endless bread and butter pudding, and an inordinate amount of sauteed sesame soy greens over rice.
Drinking : Yorkshire tea, chai, and whatever red is in the cupboard.
Reading : The Silence of the Lambs. It’s part of my reading challenge. Sort of.
Wanting : To magically have more socks at my disposal.
Looking : At everyone’s blogs again. I had a little break over Christmas that sort of morphed into half the year, but I love blogs so much I don’t know how I survived without them.
Playing : My Little Pony. Ponymania has swept VMHQ and all those 80’s ponies I bought on eBay years ago are getting a full workout. They’re currently living in utter luxury inside one of these bad boys.
Wasting : Stupid dough that stupid won’t stupid work.
Sewing : A button onto a coat. It’s that time of year.
Wishing : There wasn’t so much dust around. But that’s what inner-city living gets ya.
Enjoying : Making time to zone out a bit.
Waiting : For my wisdom teeth surgery. I’m at the hospital while you read this. Hi!
Liking : Food. So this careful eating after surgery thing is pretty heinous.
Wondering : Why I can’t quit.
Loving : These kids. Holy shit. We’re at Cuteness Level: Extreme and I can’t believe how often I think of having a third. I was so done.
Hoping : That I can pull off a very daring expedition.
Marvelling : That my worst sleeper has now become my best. Those two years of sleep hell have plenty to do with the fact I’m not cut out for more children.
Needing : To do some yoga.
Smelling : A very pretty avocado and lime candle.
Wearing : A bathrobe. I apologise, internet. But I got up early to work and it was the warmest thing I could find in the dark. It’s a fancy one that we received at our Remarkables Retreat in Noosa, it even has my initials on it. I know you’ll forgive me.
Following : Cinnamon Girl – her beautiful Maine homesteading pictures and simple stories make me want to immediately buy chickens and a wood stove.
Noticing : Lots of things, especially after we had a TV-free week, and I ditched the social media apps on my phone late last year. I notice plenty.
Knowing : I’m about to get a lot more cold. I hope I can handle it.
Thinking : I should probably make some food prior to this hospital business.
Feeling : Hungry. I didn’t have much for breakfast so I’ve got some organic eggs and homemade bread calling my name. Which is weird, I didn’t think bread could speak.
Bookmarking : Beer battered tofu tacos with mango salsa, and Green curry dumplings.
Opening : Jars of homemade blackberry jam.
Giggling : Truth.
Listening : Drake.

What have you been up to?

Love me some taking stock! I had my wisdom teeth out in hospital too. I thought that I would be eating soup and melted mars bars post surgery but as it turned out, I could chow down anything I wanted, even like, burger and chips. I hope your recovery is as swift and delicious. Now I can’t stop, I’m off to check out the green curry dumplings!

Can I bug you for some bread recipes/tips? It is the one thing I desperately want to master but if falls short every damn time & then I get pissed off & never want to make bread again. Until I see/read/eat bread & then I want to make it.
Also reading that your bad sleeper has become a great one is balm to my weary, sleep deprived soul. Every damn time I think we are making progress we take a huge leap backwards. I’m not lying when I say I cannot remember the last time I had decent sleep. It might have been the beginning of 2012 before I fell pregnant…..
Hope Mr VM is all set to take care of you post teeth removal. I can’t remember my pain level or food consumption but I do remember I scared my kids with how swollen my face was. Chipmunks had nothing on me!
    xx

I am in a chai-manic phase at the moment. It’s my go-to now while I’m on a coffee hiatus. But I can only cheat on coffee for so long…. hurry up August. And ha ha ha damn kids and their cuteness. I’m so like you- baby phase ain’t my thang, but toddlers and little people? I am so there. The cuteness is out of sight. And their little quirks and mannerisms and working out how the world works. It is a recipe for psycluck (psychotic cluckiness). Hope the wisdom teeth surgery goes a-ok! x

Good luck with your wisdom teeth – I had all four of mine taken out after I finished uni {they were impacted} and it was the worst! Here is to eating lots of custard, mash and gravy, jelly and ice cream, and washing it all down with lemonade and pain killers. It’s freezing today in Canberra and it’s making me sad thinking that the awesome weather is over.
