Taking Stock

September 4, 2015 by Stacey 21 Comments

IMG_8128Joining in with Meet Me at Mikes, not stealing broth.

Making : The world’s angriest blanket, and a cool internet thing… stay tuned.
Cooking : Ginger and lentil veggie soup, bread, best banana cake, this soy/ginger/coriander tofu delicious thing, vegan chicken & dumplings, turkish toasties, enchiladas, and this super-simple but very rich chocolate mud cake.
Drinking : Tea; orange, carrot and ginger juice, hot toddies, and indonesian instant coffee.
Reading : Another bloody Diana biography,  a book about internet launches that I can’t remember the name of, and Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy. Also Pippa Middleton’s Celebrate – no idea why everyone seems to want to rag on it, it’s actually a really good book.
Wanting : I’m not going to talk about the weather, but I’ll use the word warm.
Looking : at the weather app a lot.
Playing : This random thing that involves all the chess pieces and draughts pieces on the board all at once and we can move once in any direction, including jumping. First person to get five of their colour to the other side wins. Kids are weird/great.
Wasting : Everything that smalls would ask for to eat while she was sick, but never actually ate. She waved a peanut butter wrap around like it was a wand for about 23 minutes straight.
Sewing : Nothing.
Wishing : Someone else would make me lunch.
Enjoying : Soup.
Waiting : to collect Bigs from kinder.
Liking : hot chocolate
Wondering : if I’ll ever finish my reading challenge. I got distracted in Bali and read five other books instead.
Loving : the online life
Hoping : for change.
Marvelling : at how much a two-year-old really can whinge.
Needing : to do more stretches.
Smelling : Nothing, it’s too bloody cold to smell anything.
Wearing : Some old crappy leggings with a hole in the knee, a One Love t-shirt, a black and grey hoodie sweater thing I bought because I saw my husband’s ex-girlfriend in it once and she looked amazing, but unfortunately I just look like a try-hard with a cold chest. It has quite the deep V at the front. Impossible for staying warm in.
Following : Innika in Bali.
Noticing : the time. Almost time to go!
Knowing : There are a lot more years of whingeing yet.
Thinking : I’d really like that lunch to materialise.
Feeling : Hungry. Bet you didn’t see that coming!
Bookmarking : ummmm let me check. I put it on my Facebook page last night: Life in Your 20s, as Told My 90s Movie Posters. Needs more Reality Bites.
Opening : The fridge, constantly.
Giggling : I Spent a Month Replying to all my PR Emails with “I Love You”
Listening : Frozen.

Smalls wants to do a “P”. here goes! p

An angry blanket? I doesn’t deserve your crafitness mate! Or is that perhaps why it’s angry. And for god’s sake put some clothes on! No wonder you are freezing in your ridiculous hate-hoodie. x

Hahah why do I always get the feeling you misunderstand me about a million percent?! The angry blanket will actually be amazing once it’s finished and blocked. At the moment it’s all twisty and full of rage 😉

Wasting : time on the internet

Sewing : The one time i tried to sew something in year nine was a disaster, it involved a polar fleece and me stitching the arm to the body several times

Wishing : I had magical powers and could click my fingers and the housework would be done

Enjoying : not needing to be anywhere today

Waiting : for my husband to come home

Noticing : how much people resist change

Knowing : that i have enough food in my pantry to feed a small country for a month

Thinking : If its worth buying a $18 bottle of sherry for the two table spoon I need for a recipe

Feeling : Amazed that its 5 years ago today since we had our first earthquake, so much damage still remain

Bookmarking : All of the recipes

Opening : The door for the cat how doesn’t seem to understand he can use the cat door cause hes a cat

Poor Smalls! What happened to eye? Did she hit herself with her peanut butter wrap wand?
And man oh man do I want it or be warm too. Yesterday was glorious & APPARENTLY it’ll be 27/28 here next week. I’m not prepared for that- nobody fits into their t-shirts from last summer. Better get into that.
Hope the lurgy pisses off soon x

Ha yeah I realised we’re in desperate need of warm-weather clothes. Who knows what that child does, she’s all over the place! I asked her but she just said something about a box.

Blah for the lurgy. It appears that we had a pretty lurgy-less winter. But last night Mr Moo had a fever and then woke up this morning with a coughing fit which led to him vomiting all over his sheets/doona {AWESOME}. Then the little dude fell and put his two bottom teeth straight through his tongue {oh and he seems to now have the cough and snotty nose too}. I now have to little boys who just want cuddles.

I was so stoked, I thought FOR SURE we had made it through the winter with no illness, like we did last year. Alas, wasn’t meant to be! But I got a lot of snuggle time (and also vomit) so I am grateful for that 🙂

    You make beautiful babies.
We managed to escape winter without anyone getting too sick (knocking wood as I type). But Lyddie is about to start child care so I expect she will have a cold for the next month and I will end up with mastitis!
I need to stop baking (and eating) cakes!
