That’s what’s going on

September 15, 2015 by Stacey 21 Comments

Well there you go, I came here to talk all about myself and my car accident yesterday, and Tone goes and gets himself dethroned. Talk about selfish. So now it’s a cup of tea with him, scones and all.

I don’t mind waking up to a new prime minister, though I do suppose they should be concerned about you know, actually running the country, rather than faffing everybody about. While I sort of hoped T.Ab would hang about until the next election so the whole party would be wiped out by a landslide, I’m reasonably happy Turnbull is in the top job. Same shit, different jacket? Very possibly, but at least his policies would align more closely to mine. However, too progressive isn’t progressive enough in my opinion, so I hope they still get turfed come election day.

Meanwhile…

The other drama of yesterday involved two cars making out in the middle of a busy street. Nobody was hurt, thankfully, but both cars will need some TLC. It was also a fine time to find out my insurance had lapsed, and that’s never something you want to realise after an accident. I sorted it out toot sweet, but if any of y’all know a good smash repairs in Brunswick, hit me up! I still have to organise that. And do me a favour? Check your damn policy!

The brief warmer weather saw a bit of a spruce-up of the outdoor area, and I found some hooks already set up around the perimeter of the balcony, so you can bet we’ll be the brightest house on the block come christmastime. I’m already excited for that time of year (sorry/not sorry). I took my half-dead plants outside for some sunshine and a soak, and found the packets of seeds I should have planted already. I am the world’s laziest gardener.

I also managed to get in a ridiculous cocktail at LuWow for a friend’s birthday on the weekend, which only furthered my determination to turn the balcony into some kind of fairylight wonderland. I was also introduced to The Royle Family, which rapidly became my most favourite thing ever and I’ve been bingeing on it whenever I can. Cue me talking like I’m from Manchester at any given opportunity, driving everybody mad. How have I not known about this show before? I feel like I’ve wasted my life.

Lots to do this week, and I’m about as motivated as a slug. We’re off north again on the weekend, as Lunchbox is playing in the Teacher’s Games and the girls and I will be staying with some family in Rushworth. Might even take Biggie to see my very first school I went to in Tongala, as she’s about to start transition to prep and is super-interested in all things school. That’s if it’s still there, I hear they’ve moved to a new building now.

Anyway, work to do, laundry to sort (ugh), groceries to order as the car probably shouldn’t be driven, and 92 crumbly bits of goddamn playdough scattered hither and yon that I need to vacuum. Or vlack-vluum if you’re Smalls. Who turns three next week! I can’t believe it.

Hope your week was/will be a good one.

Three? How on earth is that possible?
Glad it was the car who took one for the team and not you!

I find the whole constant changing of the PMs to be strange…there have been I think five PMs since I have lived here…and in that time only one POTUS. How are they supposed to get anything done if they are only in office for a minute? In some cases I think it is good that they weren’t able to accomplish much…but still.

I still dream about that frittata you brought over for me when she was a newborn. In fact, I’m making it tonight for dinner! I still also can’t believe I haven’t held your not-so-newborn now!

I love how they can’t dethrone ole POTUS that easily. Though it would have been handy in the Dubya years.

Happy to hear you are OK but what a debacle!

I’m just about ready to check out of politics & that pisses me off. I am so sick of the spills & the stupidness of it all & the constant fighting. Just run the damn country people!

I hate the follow up getting things fixed/making phone calls/running around debacle, that’s for sure!

Glad you’re ok after the accident. But getting the car repaired can be a bit of a hassle. I remember all too well having to do this 4 years ago and the process took forever because it happened after the 2011 floods in Brisbane and all the claims were took ages to get processed. Hope it doesn’t suck too much time to sort out! X

Oh dear, that would be a horrible time to have a claim! I remember those floods well.

Holy shit, glad to hear you are OK after the accident and that your insurance woes have been sorted. That is all kinds of ouch. Throw in the political bullshit and it sounds like it’s been a week of carwrecks….

haha car wrecks and train wrecks! I certainly sorted out some insurance afterwards, but there is still the debacle of this claim that needs to be sorted – and it’s a long way from being sorted. This is the most stressful part! Meanwhile, I’m left with a car I can’t bloody drive.

First things first, I’m so happy to hear that you’re ok and that the car has a good prognosis. At times like these when my cage is rattled and my nerve endings are frayed, I like to remember that everything is replaceable except life itself. Being relatively new to Aussie politics and all the thrills and spills that go with it. I say it’s the same shit in a different suit. Where’s Kid President when you need him?

Yes, but his jacket! His jacket is important: http://www.news.com.au/national/turnbull-to-auction-off-q-a-leather-jacket/story-e6frfkvr-1226187817171

The car is not so good, it makes a horrible rattling noise and is a bit crushed, but will pull through. I still sort of can’t believe it happened, I’ve never been in an accident before! Outrageous. But oh boy it could have been so much worse and I’ve spent many moments since then being utterly, utterly grateful.

Oh, I see what you mean about the jacket! As for the accident, may it be the first and the very last! Hope you get the wheels turning on your motor and in the insurance department very soon!

Glad you’re okay but SUCKS when cars collide as there’s some stuff to do afterwards and inconveniences along the way. Getting warm here today, about 29C, which is nice but it’s too soon as I’ve only just started my salad-a-thon today! x

Sorry to hear about the accident – were the kids with you? Glad you sorted out the insurance – mine is due and so high I sort of resent paying it so this is a good reminder it is worthwhile. Nicholson St in East Brunswick has lots of garages – I have a feeling we used one once but it is such a vague memory that I am not sure – when we have needed repairs our insurer has dictated where. (Our mechanic is in coburg and is great if you needed to go further than brunswick)

If only there was a smash repair for the government that would fix them that easily. Leadership is so sorely lacking up the top of the tree – if Malcolm can lead with some compassion and consensus I will feel happier – am cautiously pessimistic!

I also think my mum taught in tongala in one of her first teaching jobs (way before your time).

Oh my memory is not what it used to be.
