It’s been chilly, but a lot of fun. Husband has been on school holidays, and there have been plenty of people in PJs until well into the afternoon.
Especially when someone wants yogurt at 4.19am. Ack.
The light is incredible. It’s so funny that this is so much earlier than I’m used to. But pretty all the same.
My supermarket sells terrariums! I nearly left without one. But seriously, it was $25. I would have hated myself forever if I didn’t buy one at such a bargain rate.
Again with the light. One day I’ll get a life.
A visit to Ikea has meant new organisation for arts + crafts. It has made the world of difference as opposed to open shelving. They don’t tip EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN THING OUT ALL OVER THE FLOOR anymore. I’d have paid double for this thingamagig.
This one is as cheeky as they come and I spend three-quarters of my day guffawing at her antics. Or making her repeat words because they’re so funny.
Blankets, blankets everywhere. And I suck at buying cushions. Know any good cushion joints?
The flower surprise. Stuff I didn’t know bloomed in the depths of the Antartcic breeze.
The great winds of 2014 finally blew the last of the leaves off. RIP leaves.
Always drawing. Always wearing pyjamas.
I quite like the winter light. And a sunny day with no breeze is pretty much heaven. I even hung washing out yesterday, and as my breath froze into little puffs of steam, I was thinking how very lovely it was. Usually I get blown over as my house is on a hill and bears the full front of the windy city. Surely the novelty will wear off soon…
What’s been happening at your place?
Is it way colder in Victoria? Everyone says it is but I always wonder?
Cushions?.. A hem.. Down that Little Lane has gazillions
We have a Peppermint comp running this week and I was looking back through covers.. can’t believe yours was so long ago! It feels like last year!
Well why don’t you have a little trip here to find out? We’re much closer to Antarctica… and that wind is STRONG. Bring cushions.
Lovely pics! You are a gun crafter-you should make some cushions! Get those big European pillows from Ikea (or smaller if you prefer), then you can choose whatever fabric you want! Cushion covers are super easy to make, I usually just do then with a tuck (like a pillowcase) rather than a zipper to make it even easier.
Haha see that brown crochet cushion cover behind the stripy Ikea one? I made that 😉
Reading this post makes me want to stay in my PJs all day and yearn for a grandchild. The picture of your baby drawing is incredibly gorgeous. May I borrow?
Haha the PJs pretty are an awesome gig. You want to borrow the picture of the baby?
It’s such a beautiful time in our lives. I love watching my Magdalene who is nearly 17 months walk up and down our hall taking one toy at a time from the playroom into any room she fancies. She has an infatuation with hats and I constantly find her with a hat on her head. She just learned to say fart this week obviously learned from her older sister and I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s so nice having a hubby home on holidays isn’t it? My hubby isn’t a teacher but has so much rec leave he takes a day off here and there and I love it as do the girls.
Haha Smalls asks for a hat all the time. hat? she says and leans forward patting her head. I could EAT HER UP.
Sounds so nice. I’ve been trying to avoid melting in the sun during this California summer. But the great thing about living on the sixth floor is that I catch the nice, cool breeze that comes around during the afternoon. 🙂

I can imagine it would be super-hot! I was in California one summer, I know what you mean x
I suck at buying cushions too, so I just buy pillows when I see them cheap & then buy groovy pillowcases – they are easier to wash than cushions!
It would look like I was trying to sleep on my couch. Which is probably true. I got your package – thank you so much! I’m going to make a biiiiig blanket x
Pj’s.. one child still in them right now 2.31pm .. water balloon fights with cousins.. right now and today we made our beautiful old tree into a balloon tree. Of course I chose the windiest Melbourne day, pop, pop, pop..
Yeah I had no idea Melbourne was so windy! Totally found out the hard way, haha
Been struggling with the cold (and what’s with all the wind?!) lately as there are only so many soothing cups of hot tea that will help me appreciate winter for what it is. But we’ve had some nice days of sunshine and light breeze and I’ve been savouring them! I haven’t hung washing outside in ages but you described exactly what I’d expect to happen if I did!
I am determined with that washing. Maybe a little stupid, but determined. It seems to do ok! And on the days when the sun is out – just awesome 🙂
Love that pic of your little one drawing. She looks so comfy in what she’s wearing and what she’s doing. I just upgraded cushions after a long long time. I normally make new covers but this time got some fab ones on sale at Pillow Talk. I love them. Enjoy your little ones, they grow way too fast
Ooh I didn’t think of Pillow Talk, thanks for the tip!
We have been loving the winter sun, marvelling at the frost, playing in the garden with freezing hands, finding good sticks to build a fire, cooking potato bake and having breakfast for dinner. Good times 🙂 love the photos!
Can I come live with you?
We have one of those trees with the big blousy pink flowers. It’s always a welcome winter bloomer – especially when the wind spreads the flowers all over the yard and it looks like we’re pompom bombed the place.
I can’t believe I didn’t know they did that!
We are working out a time to go to ikea (not close by, it’s an excursion lol) to get that exact storage system too, for Olivia’s toys and craft. Glad to see you love it! I think I’ll paint mine.
As for cushions, head to Society6 for the best designs. They do free shipping once a month too. I live on that website. Love your pics as usual! I’m a light gal too, you don’t need a life haha you’re living the life!
I almost bought the white one. I was so close. But then I figured I can paint this one white if I feel like it. Going to wait and see if we have to move, first! I’ve never had so much light – living on a hill makes all the difference!
Glad to hear you’re vaguely surviving the Melbourne winter. We’re really bringing out the wind for you this year! I second the suggestion of society6 for cushions – amazing selection and good quality too. The only problem is there’s almost too much choice, I get stuck for aaaages looking at them all and trying to decide!
See, I’m frightened of colour so my options are usually limited by that! Makes it easier to choose 😉
What a delightful post – I’m so enthralled by snippets of people’s daily life. You have inspired me to get to ikea! I often baulk at spending money on things like that but I think I really need to get organised with the craft stuff as well – there is just so much to store! Happy winter warming xo
I enjoy a peek into people’s lives too! And I resisted getting that thingammy, as we had open shelving that served its purpose just fine, albeit a little small. but we now need that for books and a craft cupboard need was opened… 😉
My sister worked at Adairs and I just got her to select me some new cushions and throw rugs to update my lounge – super awesome as I didn’t need to think about it and I love the way it looks.
I can trust no-one to choose soft furnishings on my behalf!
Okay. I have decided that i am jealous your life… I want a blog. Need
to come put with something to diffentiate me from you. Considering Meaty
Mamma… now, what do i write?
ummmm might wanna re-think that name…
yeah… sigh
