Your Me Time is on me! Win one of 4 Netflix Subscriptions

July 27, 2017 by Stacey 6 Comments

Congrats to Gerald, Kate, Jason and Klaus! Enjoy your Netflix and thanks for playing along!

This is how I would like to spend my Me Time. This is not at all how I spend my Me Time.

This is how I would like to spend my Me Time. This is not at all how I spend my Me Time.

Yo ok so I’m a work-at-home mum with two kids under 6 and I will take my Me Time or whatever you want to call it wherever I can get it.

This does not always mean me chilling on the couch alone in my personalised Netflix Stream Team dressing gown with my fancy personalised wine and not having to share my cheese (aka Nirvana).

I might often wear my dressing gown, but I also often have to share my cheese.

Me Time happens in snippets of the day when I supplement a particularly boring writing job with Doc Martin on the telly in the background so every now and then I can look up and enjoy the visual spectacle of a quaint Cornish seaside village full of absolute nutcases, a world away from where I sit.

Breaks for lunch are spent with Ricky Gervais in every iteration, every day all the time.

Folding the washing is accompanied by Suits, because if I’m going to have to fulfil the worst household task known to man, I’m going to do it in the least mind-numbing way possible. And if Prince Harry doesn’t want to be with me, I can at least check out the competition, right?

Me Time also includes me reading a book without distraction while my darling children sit quietly (I think) watching Matilda for the eight millionth time.

Truth be told, I think taking time to do the things I really fricking like doing is really important. I make time to write. I put books everywhere so they’re always on hand. I spend time with friends, I watch British dramas, I bake shit, I drink a really big pot of tea and tackle a crossword. Little things in bits and pieces of my days wherever I can fit them in. If I didn’t do these things I would be monstrous to live with and nobody would survive.

And I like to do these things alone.

Netflix tells me that for mums around the globe, “sneaking” is the new bingeing and they’ll do just about anything to stream their favourite shows when nobody else is around. I understand this at a cellular level. And also that level where I’m kind of embarrassed to be seen watching a certain show.

Three-quarters of mums sneak in TV “me-time” while doing their hair or household chores, or actually hiding from their kids, between one and three times a day.

It’s like looking in a mirror, no?!

I get so overwhelmed with Netflix!! I scroll endlessly trying to find something to watch. Glow, Stranger Things, Chefs Table, The Crown & OF COURSE Gilmore Girls have been my faves so far.

You know what’s so funny, I’m the same… sometimes I sit down to watch and I spend half an hour just trying to decide and checking out the new stuff haha. It’s like a binge in itself.
