Veggie Mama baby chicks

A couple of weeks ago, an incubator was brought into Biggie’s classroom with chicken eggs just about to hatch.

I posted a little Instagram video when all the chicks were hatched and tumbling about in their little warm box, 24 hours old and curious about the world.

The message came through from Lunchbox – should we take a couple home?

You don’t have to ask me twice! The time has come for the Robertseseseses to finally get chickens.

And if you ask Bigs, not a moment too soon! <3

Yay! We have 3 chooks (almost 2 years old now). They are endlessly entertaining, as well as productive. Brace yourself for the inevitable appearance of rats tho 😬 And, speaking from regretful experience – don’t forget to shut the coup at night! We lost our first three to an opportunistic fox.
Wishing you clucking good times ahead!

haha they are so great. It’s nice hearing their little chirping. They’ll be indoors another couple of weeks until they’re old enough to go outdoors 🙂
