Oh look! It’s my turn to answer some questions about what drives my writing. I follow in the footsteps of the divine Tessa from Down That Little Lane…
I don’t even know what my genre is? Is there a “sassmouth on the internet” genre?
I don’t know. I think it’s just because it’s what automatically happens in my body. I eat, I breathe, I write.
I write constantly in my head, every minute of every day. Sometimes I pick up a pencil or open a word doc and out it comes. Other times I sit at a clean desk with a hot cup of tea and type some stuff until it starts making sense. Then I shape it to fit. I don’t follow my own advice about editing, as it usually comes out fully-formed, just as it should. That is my superpower.
I’m passing the torch onto:
The Beetleshack – a creative, gloriously real (and well-dressed) blog.
Mother Down Under – a sanctuary away from partners, children, pets, and the laundry.
Lilybett and Boy – A mix of motherhood, musings, and a ton of smarts.
Classic, simple and true.. love it x
Thanks for tagging me!
Wow that is a COOL super power. I have to change mine heaps because I always try to make things sound cooler! But then you have to know when to stop right?
You could do that until the end of time! Stop faffing about and get it out there already 😉
If there is a “sassmouth on the internet” genre then I want in! Love this post – sometimes I think too much about my writing when perhaps I should just let it out as a first draft.. xxx
I never think about it – that totally helps!
Great post, love that superpower! 🙂
It’s my favourite one, by far!
Simply put. I love the why answer. I like reading you because you’re authentic, different, in a similar life season to me being a mum to little uns and you have tattoos. I don’t have any tatts but I find people who do intriguing. Weird. I know.
Ha I’m just like a regular person but with art on my arms 🙂
I never really thought about it, but I write in my head all the time too.
I guess I never realised that people don’t do that?
Anyway, thank you for passing the torch on to me!
Can’t wait to see what you write!
It’s amazing how self-editing we are. !! I think we are similar “look, there it is” writers. x
Ha I think that’s why I like your writing so much – we have similar styles. Your ‘brevity’ made me fist-pump. I can’t do flowery.
I eat I breathe I write. Love it.
I can’t help it!
Great to read about how others write. I absolutely love the process and really enjoy reading about how others do it. My brain often gets so full that I love being able to empty it out in words ( or a brain fart – a term I learnt from Fat Mum Slim this week).
Oh she’s a funny one isn’t she!
“sassmouth on the internet” – LOVE IT! That is so a genre, I’m sure 🙂
Great post Stacey x

If it isn’t one, I’m making it one 🙂
Been a journo almost my whole adult life, paused after babies until I was seduced by you blogging lot. Still find it sooo hard to let go of all the “journalism” rules and write about me. Every time I do feel like a complete loser, small steps. Thanks Stacey
hah I was only a journalist for a year, so I found it very easy to let go! But you can see the effect it’s had on my brevity…
Sassmouth. Oh man you rock! xx
Huzzah!
