The Throne Rangers Podcast Episode 9: Back to Royal Reality

October 12, 2018 by Stacey Leave a Comment

Here we are, on the day of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding, mere minutes from the Duke and Duchess of Thirst Go Down Under tour, to bring you the latest episode of the Throne Rangers podcast. Things are ramping up now and we’d almost have to turn this into a full time job to keep tabs on it all!

Kensington Palace

For now, feast your ears while we discuss:

  • Haz and Meg at the Wellchild Awards (above)
  • Willz in Bristol to launch a new initiative, Mental Health at Work, a free portal filled with information for employers and employees in the UK
  • Chuck tucking into baked goods and homemade chutney at a farmer’s market in Hexham
  • Also Chuck honoured at the GQ Men of the Year Awards for his services to philanthropy. He somehow turned up in a double-breasted navy suit to what was a black tie event (omg the horror) and made a joke that he wore it because “none of you would really be able to compete with my incredibly snazzy dinner jacket”. You get ’em tiger.
  • Meghan in a “deep sea blue” Jason Wu frock For the ‘100 Days to Peace’ Gala, a music evening marking the centenary of the end of the First World War at Central Hall, Westminster. Those watching on went into apoplexy declaring the newlywed up the duff because the dress looked like she was sporting a baby bump. Turns out it was just a bit of chiffon fluttering in the breeze. Beth was also grateful Meghan’s shoes appeared to fit for the first time

Kensington Palace

  • Haz and Megs (in a tuxedo dress) shook up the audience at a London performance of Hamilton, raising money for Harry’s Sentebale charity
  • That the wedding outfits of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will go on display at Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh in 2018 and 2019 respectively in a special exhibition ‘A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’.
  • Meghan and Harry both had birthdays
  • Meghan travelled under the radar to Toronto a fortnight ago to spend time with friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney and her family for three days.
  • They also got a new dog! Supposedly an adopted black Labrador
  • Meg apparently calls Harry “My Love”
  • H & M stayed with Charles and Camilla at the Queen Mother’s former Scottish retreat the Castle of Mey for a relaxing break. We discuss how nice it would be to own a remote Scottish island
  • The Sussexes also enjoyed an idyllic four days with George and Amal Clooney at Lake Como, as well as time at their country bolthole in the Cotswolds.

God this is really the Meg and Harry show right now, isn’t it?

Well, while we’re at it, the initial Duke and Duchess of Thirst Going Down Under tour schedule was released. It’s meant to be focusing on youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts – including the dedication of several new Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy projects – and the recovery and rehabilitation of servicemen and women through the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 and looked a little something like this:

  • Tuesday 16th October:     Sydney, Australia
  • Wednesday 17th October:    Dubbo, Australia
  • Thursday 18th October:    Melbourne, Australia
  • Friday 19th October:    Sydney, Australia
  • Saturday 20th October:    Sydney, Australia
  • Sunday 21st October:    Sydney, Australia
  • Monday 22nd October:    Fraser Island, Australia
  • Tuesday 23rd October:    Suva, Fiji
  • Wednesday 24th October:    Suva, Fiji
  • Thursday 25th October:    Nadi, Fiji and Nuku’alofa, Tonga
  • Friday 26th October:    Nuku’alofa, Tonga and Sydney, Australia
  • Saturday 27th October:    Sydney, Australia
  • Sunday 28th October:    Wellington, New Zealand
  • Monday 29th October:    Wellington and Abel Tasman, New Zealand
  • Tuesday 30th October:    Auckland, New Zealand
  • Wednesday 31st October:    Rotorua, New Zealand

(there’s been a slightly more detailed schedule released since then, which you can find here).

I will be holding down the fort in Melbourne on the 18th, and then headed to Sydney at sparrow’s on the Friday to cover off middle Sydney stop with Beth. No stone will be left unturned!

Also:

  • Prince George returned to Thomas’s Battersea for a new school year and Princess Charlotte returned to Willcocks Nursery School – Our Cath was seen shopping with the kiddos in John Lewis for school shoes, and Beth and I discuss whether we take our own socks or just use the ones there because why wouldn’t you, settle down Twitter
  • William and Kate, styled as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland, were photographed arriving at Crathie Kirk with Her Majesty for Sunday service
  • George was taken to his first grouse shoot on Friday by Kate, with the Queen, Charles, Edward, Sophie, Louise & James, Anne, Zara & Mike Tindall joining for lunch hashtagcontroversy

The Royal Family

  • We had a good natter about the upcoming nuptials between Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, reported to be two or three days long and quite the bloody spectacle (we hear there’s fairground rides in the grounds of Windsor and everything. Should be good to watch! #bringyahat

Not long now! This ep should definitely get you through.
