It is so hot crumpet with butter weather. If you wanna make your own too, try this recipe!

I know, I’ve changed it up again. I blame the full solstice moon or whatever the hell is going on. I CAN DO WHAT I WANT MOON, OK?!

At least it’s not (quite) as bad (I don’t think) as Mercury Retrograde, that shit makes me loco for real.

Last week was really rather pleasant on the whole, even though I’d signed up to exercise thirty minutes every day and eat five cups of vegetables every day. Surprisingly, I actually did it! Well I had a cheat exercise day on Saturday because Saturday.

Reads

Issue 3 of Lunch Lady, which is awesome (gonna make that cauliflower and fennel soup tonight), and The Artist’s Way. Although I keep getting very distracted by all my cookbooks, which I just moved into their own bookshelf. I keep seeing things I forgot I had or have been waiting to read and now that everything is in my line of sight all day long I am rapidly losing willpower. Will I ever finish The Bourne Identity? WHO KNOWS!

Eats

Wholemeal ANZAC biscuits, all of the soup, roasted mushrooms with Diane sauce, all of the goddamn vegetables in all of the land, rocket on everything because hey five cups a day is a lot, and scrambled eggs.

Views

I finished Degrassi Junior High (going to record our podcast episode on it tomorrow YAY!) and am still kicking on with Gilmore Girls. Although I’m reasonably certain (plus I was told) that the whole back catalogue is likely to be on Netflix…. soon.

Excitingly, someone asked Carly and I to do Dawson’s Creek and now of course we have to bump that up in the queue. No complaints from me.

I watched ROOM. I spent a good 45 minutes cringeing, wringing my hands, staring at anything other than the screen, and freaking out. Oh yeah, and crying. The rest of the movie I spent half in awe/half so upset. What an amazing movie.

Listens

The Kinks on Spotify – it’s the best weekend morning music. And also the BBC world service because soothing.

Threads

I don’t know how long this will last, but I feel like I’ve got something in my wardrobe for every need. I don’t think I’ve ever been this satisfied with my clothing setup ever. Like, in my life. Is this what being a responsible adult feels like?

Stuff

  • So it’s technically the first day of winter and here I’ve been so smug as I’ve successfully navigated the last cold two weeks without dying. I ain’t seen nothing yet.
  • I spent many, many hours of my life watching all of the Queen’s birthday celebrations, even the one where they sat in a church for two hours. May I say Kate’s Trooping outfit was a 12/10, she absolutely nailed it. I wasn’t mad at the Ascot dress either, though plenty of other people were. Listen, let’s just say the whole week was a sartorial delight with the exception of the Patron’s Lunch getup. Let’s pretend that never happened.
  • Having my sister here was a ton of fun. We had a super-nice lunch, some super-nice wine and then I danced way too much and got home too late. I think I’m only just feeling human again now.
  • Candles at night
  • The heater
  • Snapchat
  • The fact that Mother and Son has been added to Netflix.
  • Chips.

2013: Five reasons I think day spa vouchers are the best gift ever (still do)

2012: Kid Snacks: Date and Coconut Balls

2011: I tweet, but I’m not a twit (ok that’s a lie yes I am)

Dawson’s Creek! Will you watch it on Stan? Am slowly working my way through it. So angsty and amusing.

I will watch it however I can get it! I watched it from start to finish on DVD in my mid-20s, the thought of having to get up and change DVDs again… haha

Oh my gosh. I heard they were doing the reunion of Gilmore Girls for Netflix, but I really really hope the whole back catalogue will be put on (like they did with Full House after they debuted Fuller House) as I never had a chance to get into it back in the day. I am SO ready now, though!
As for Dawson’s Creek – same deal. I can only afford subscription on one streaming app so I’m always bummed when Netflix doesn’t have EVERYTHING!

You know most people don’t know that the seasons change on the 22nd of every month not at the beginning of the month. Of course you do. Another reason I love the VM.

Crumpets, haven’t eaten them in years. They do sell them in Canada, but have avoided them. My father used to own a crumpet factory many, many, years ago. Dundee Cake is one of my favourites too, used to make it for a Christmas Cake. Haven’t done t hat in even more years than crumpets.
